After a brief hiatus, hotel conference season is back in full force.

While it’s obvious that this year will hold a unique set of challenges, the fact it’s going ahead will be a great boost to the hotel industry.

Trade shows present a great opportunity to grow businesses through strong working relationships while gathering invaluable insider knowledge. This is something that has been more difficult during remote workings reign.

But what will be different?

Despite the successful vaccine rollout, conferences still pose problems for managing Covid transmissions.

Handshakes

The usual meet and greet behaviours face extinction. Handshakes for example are unlikely to survive as people become far more concerned with unnecessary contact.

This will come as a great relief to many who would argue a simple ‘how do you’ suffices.

Business cards

Even more problematic will be business cards. Notlost for example won’t be using these. We imagine other businesses will be doing the same.

There are some challenges posed by this as business cards are the easiest way to transfer contact information. Digital versions exist but are not as widely used.

Virtual attendance

We are also likely to see some attendees getting involved digitally. In the modern age it’s perfectly possible to catch talks and network all from the comfort of one’s bedroom.

While there are obvious pros and cons to this to this it allows for a wider range of delegates and provides options for those unable to attend
